Refund Policy
About this policy
This Refund Policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions and explains what happens when a booking is cancelled, by you or by us, and how refunds and date transfers are handled. It applies to all private distillery experiences arranged by The Sunshine Tour. Because our itineraries combine our own services with commitments we make to distilleries and transport operators on your behalf, the timing of a cancellation genuinely affects the costs already incurred — the windows below reflect that reality fairly.
Cancelling your booking
You may cancel at any time by giving notice in writing to our registered address or through the enquiry form, clearly identifying your booking. The refund due depends on how far in advance of the departure date we receive your notice.
30 or more days before departure: full refund of all amounts paid.
29 to 14 days before departure: 50% refund of the total price.
Within 14 days of departure: no monetary refund; instead, a one-time date transfer valid for 12 months.
These windows are calculated from the date your written notice reaches us. If you are unsure of your dates at the time of booking, we recommend discussing flexibility with your host before confirming, as bespoke itineraries involve commitments that cannot always be unwound.
How refunds are processed
Where a refund is due, it is issued to the same payment method used for the original payment, within 14 days of our acceptance of your cancellation. If part of your payment has already been passed to distilleries or transport operators as a non-recoverable commitment, this is itemised in your booking confirmation and is accounted for in the refund calculation in accordance with the windows above.
Date transfers
A date transfer allows you to move your confirmed itinerary to new dates within 12 months of the original departure, subject to distillery and operator availability. One transfer is included per booking; further changes are handled at cost where third parties charge for amendments. If the new itinerary is more expensive, the difference is payable; if it is less expensive, the balance is refunded to you.
Third-party charter elements
Helicopter and yacht charters carry their own cancellation terms, which are set out in your booking confirmation alongside this policy. Where a charter operator's terms are stricter than the general windows above — for example, where a charter fee becomes non-refundable once a flight plan is filed — those operator terms apply to the charter element of your booking, and we will always disclose them to you before you confirm.
Weather and operational disruption
Helicopter and yacht journeys are weather-dependent, and distillery access can occasionally be affected by production requirements. If an element of your itinerary cannot proceed for safety or operational reasons, we will rearrange it, substitute a comparable alternative, or — if neither is possible — refund the value of that element. A partial disruption that does not prevent the overall experience from taking place gives rise to a proportionate refund of the affected element only.
Cancellations by us
If we cancel your experience for a reason within our control, you may choose between a full refund of all amounts paid, including any third-party elements, and a date transfer to new dates of your choosing within 12 months. If we cancel for a reason outside our control, such as a force majeure event, the provisions on weather and operational disruption apply, and any amounts not yet committed to third parties are refunded in full.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the version in force on the date your booking confirmation was issued, as indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
